in Chaudeyrac en Margeride
Simple pleasures to share...
happiness!
L'hôtel de France is a hotel-restaurant located in Margeride (Lozère), on the RN 88.
on the border of Ardèche and Haute-Loire. We welcome you for a gourmet break in the heart of nature, for a few hours or a few days, as you wish.
A family affair for over a century
« In the early 1900s, my grandmother Mélanie Tremoulet created the house. Originally, it was a post office and a milk collection center.
My father François took over the business after the war. My wife Nadine and I took over the hotel-restaurant in 1992. I see myself as a hard-working local who likes things simple and authentic. Around us, a small, loyal team of 3-4 people help us welcome you to Lozère. »

Google customer reviews
The hotel is off the GR 70-Stevenson, but the google map-guided path to it is very pleasant, and the hotelier himself offers to take hikers back to Cheylard-L'Eveque free of charge the next morning.
Spacious, comfortable room and bathroom. The half-board dinner is very good, probably one of the best of our stops on the Stevenson Trail.
We stayed at this hotel during our journey along the Stevenson Trail.
The rooms are very well insulated. You couldn't hear the cars passing along the road at all.
The hotel is a bit far from the road, but we offer a morning shuttle service to Cheylard l'Evêque. A great initiative that saves 1 hour's walk.
On the other hand, if you go all the way to Luc, you'll have something to eat, contrary to what was announced by the waiters the evening before, offering us their picnic.
We stayed at this hotel during our GR70. The rooms are very nice and clean, the owner and his employee gave us a warm welcome and we had a good dinner. What's more, the next day the owner took us down to Cheylard at no extra cost. Very good stopover during your GR.
6 good reasons to come to Margeride
For your hiking weekends
Hike in the footsteps of Robert Louis Stevenson on the GR 70, the Stevenson Trail.
Robert Louis Stevenson was a famous Scottish writer. In 1878, he went into seclusion in Monastier-sur-Gazeille in the Haute-Loire and set out on a journey on foot accompanied by a donkey named Modestine. After 230 km, the route took him through the Cévennes to Saint-Jean-Gard. This experience inspired him to write his best-selling story, "Voyage avec un âne dans les Cévennes" ("Journey with a donkey in the Cévennes").

Mushroom picking
Rule n°1: a Lozère resident will never give you the address of his good mushroom spots.
But the good news is that mushrooms grow everywhere in the right season, provided the weather has been a little favorable, and any walker can easily bring back a small dish of mushrooms.
Ceps, chanterelles, oreillettes, mousserons, and for mycologists, rarer species such as morels, oronges, tricholomes, ...
What's more, we love to cook them! And if you like mushrooms, we can also offer you our homemade dried mushrooms.
For a fishing weekend
The Lozère region boasts almost 2800 km of rivers, streams and torrents, as well as lakes such as Naussac and Charpal. And several no-kill runs.
Nature is unspoilt and fario trout are everywhere.
So if you're a fisherman, don't forget your tackle.
At the Hôtel de France, we can show you some of the nearby fishing spots and prepare a musette for your waterside lunches.
Discover nature and local produce
Lozère is a natural department par excellence. With just 76,000 inhabitants, it's France's least populated department, but with a rich variety of landscapes, from the plateaux of Aubrac to those of the Cévennes Park, via the Grands Causses, the Gorges du Tarn and the Lot valley.
You'll discover a wealth of flora and fauna during your hikes.
It's also a region that has remained authentic and unspoiled by the ravages of mass tourism.
